Fritsch and Company Take OHL Championship
SST athlete Andrew Fritsch (Owen Sound Attack) who took part in the Burlington location High Performance Hockey camp last off season, enjoyed a very successful playoff run this spring. He helped his team blow the competition away and earned a shot at the OHL Championship against the heavy favorites, Mississauga St Michaels Majors, who finished first place during the regular season. The two teams met twice during the season with the Majors winning both games, 6-3 and 4-2. Although the Attack could not find a way to defeat the speedy St. Mike’s squad, Fritsch played very well both games racking up 2 goals and an assist in a losing effort.
The Attack came into the Championship series on their high horse, as they had just knocked off the two time defending OHL and Memorial Cup champions, Windsor Spitfire, in 5 games. Andrew was injured for the first three rounds, but came back just in time for the biggest series of his young career. The two teams battled out a very entertaining 7 game series. It was fitting for the seventh game to head into overtime in a 2-2 tie, setting the stage for some kind of heroics from one side or the other. The Attack scored just 3 minutes into the overtime period, upsetting the Major’s in dramatic fashion and declaring themselves the 2010-2011 OHL Champions, as well as earning a chance to play the top junior team in Canada for an opportunity to win the Memorial Cup. Fritsch finished the series with 2 assists and a plus 3 rating in Championship series.
Fritsch began the season with the Niagara Ice Dogs, where he played last year and recorded 11 goals and 7 assists in 62 games as a rookie. After two games this season Andrew was dealt to the Owen Sound Attack where he enjoyed a breakout season. In 58 games with the Attack, Fritsch scored 27 goals and added 35 assists for 62 points and a plus 19 rating helping lead the Attack to the second best record in the OHL. Andrew was a nominee for the Western Conference for the most improved player award. His explosiveness helped him get into position and allowed him to find the back of the net on a regular basis throughout the season.
SST and its staff would like to congratulate Andrew on a stellar season, both individually and with his team. On another off season of intense training and healthy eating will only help pile up the stats next season. Great job Fritschie, keep up the hard work!!
SST Hits the Great Wall of China!!
Last month SST made its debut in China!!! Two of SST Burlington’s Maxfit Members, Craig Hannaford and Sue Clarke traveled to China last month. The couple missed SST so much while they were on vacation that they decided to make a tribute video for us, where else but ON TOP of the Great Wall of China! Craig’s form while running up the ridiculously big flight of stairs was simply exquisite. He thanked SST for helping him tackle the monstrous mountain of stairs. He said he would not have been able to complete such a tremendous feat without the help of SST.
In turn we would like to thank Susan and Craig for putting SST on the Global Map and taking our workouts to the next level, in a new country. If you would like to join these training pioneers, you can find them at SST Burlington’s 6:00 am Maxfit class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, pushing dumbbells, prowlers, plates and of course….their specialty…Climbing Stairs!!!!!
Check out Susan and Craig’s unreal training video right here!!
